In addition to my passion for painting, I love fibre and yarns having knitted and sewn from a very young age. I am a self-confessed addict to textiles of all kinds!
I source raw fleeces from local smallholders wherever possible, scouring, dyeing, carding, blending and spinning my own yarns. This is very much a labour of love as the process has many stages. In the main I now try and use natural dyes with as much plant material gathered from my own garden and local hedgerows as possible.
I am also in the process of designing and dyeing my own fabrics and as soon as I have some available I will add them to my website.
My fibres are often embedded with recycled and vintage textiles and can be used 'wherever your imagination takes you'. However, due to the nature of these yarns, there are sometimes only a few of any one batch available, consequently if you decide to knit or crochet the yarns, a Modular or Freeform approach could be the best approach. I run workshops in both these techniques, please see my workshops page. And for the latest news please visit the Yarn Gardener Facebook Page.
